# House Robbery

> Learn how house robberies work in Equinox, including scouting, contracts, approaches, group requirements, equipment, and progression.

House robberies have been completely overhauled with a system focused on **planning, preparation, risk, and progression** instead of mindlessly moving from door to door.

There are several different ways to locate potential targets, and each approach comes with its own requirements, advantages, and level of preparation.

<Info>
  ### What's Different?

  The current house robbery system includes:

  * Multiple robbery approaches
  * Intel gathering and scouting
  * Contract-based opportunities
  * Dynamic robbery limits
  * Group-based progression
  * Specialized loot requiring additional tools
  * Different police requirements
  * Higher-risk opportunities with greater potential rewards
</Info>

# Robbery Limits

House robberies use several limits to keep jobs distributed throughout the city.

| Limit                | Amount |
| :------------------- | :----: |
| **Per Person**       |   10   |
| **Per House**        |   15   |
| **Active Blips**     |    5   |
| **House Reset Time** |   30   |

<Note>
  These limits are handled by the robbery system automatically. Once a limit or reset applies, you'll need to wait for the system to make additional opportunities available.
</Note>

# What Do I Need?

Different parts of a house can require different tools.

You may not need every item for every robbery, but arriving prepared can determine what you're actually able to steal once you're inside.

  <Tab title="Blue Lockpick">
    The **Blue Lockpick** is your primary tool for gaining entry into houses that require forced access.

    ### Break Chances

    | Result                 | Break Chance |
    | :--------------------- | :----------: |
    | **Failed Attempt**     |      95%     |
    | **Successful Attempt** |      5%      |

    <Warning>
      Failed lockpicking attempts have a very high chance of destroying your lockpick.

      Bring more than one if you're expecting trouble.

# Groups Are Required

Before starting a house robbery, you'll need to use the **Groups App** on your phone.

This applies even when you're planning to work alone.

<Danger>
  ### A Group Is Required

  You must create or join a group before participating in house robberies — **even if you're doing the job solo**.

  The maximum group size is **5 players**.
</Danger>

***

## Step 1 — Download the Groups App

Open your phone's **App Store** and download:

**Groups**

## Step 2 — Create Your Group

Create a new group and give it a name.

Anyone participating in the robbery should join the group before you begin.

# Choose Your Approach

You don't have to find houses the same way every time.

There are several approaches available, ranging from simply scouting houses yourself to bribing people for information or accessing criminal opportunities through other systems.

| Approach | How It Works | Scouting Required |
| ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | :---------------: |
| **Door** | Attempt to rob any eligible house without first receiving a contract. | Yes |
| **Gangster** | Locate a house robbery contact and obtain a contracted house location. | Yes |
| **Maid** | Bribe a maid to perform requests or provide information about a house where she works. | No |
| **Valet** | Bribe a valet attendant for information about luxurious houses. | No |
| **Locksmith** | Bribe a locksmith for information involving a house they have previously worked on. | No |
| **Payphone** | Use a phone number obtained through the city to request a job through a payphone. | Yes |
| **Hacking** | Access real-estate information and purchase additional house information through the criminal network. | No |

<Note>
  Different approaches are intended to give criminals multiple ways to find opportunities.

  You don't need to use the same method every time.
</Note>

# Approach Requirements

Each method has its own police requirement and progression information.

| Approach      | Restrictions | Police Required | Progress Time |   Ped Locations   |
| ------------- | :----------: | :-------------: | :-----------: | :---------------: |
| **Door**      |     None     |        2        |      N/A      |        N/A        |
| **Gangster**  |     None     |        1        |       8       |         4         |
| **Maid**      |     None     |        1        |       10      |         3         |
| **Valet**     |     None     |        2        |       15      |         5         |
| **Locksmith** |     None     |        1        |       13      |         4         |
| **Payphone**  |     None     |        1        |      N/A      | 3 — Obtain Number |
| **Hacking**   |     None     |        1        |      N/A      |        N/A        |

<Warning>
  ### Police Requirements Matter

  The required number of police officers must be available before the associated robbery opportunity can begin.

  Do not attempt to circumvent or manipulate police requirements.
</Warning>

***

# The Door Approach

Want to find your own target?

You can attempt to rob **any eligible house** without receiving information from another source first.

The tradeoff is preparation.

<Info>
  ### Door Approach

  **Police Required:** 2<br />**Scouting Required:** Yes<br />**Contract Required:** No
</Info>

You'll need to scout the property yourself before it becomes a viable robbery target.

This is the most independent approach, but you won't have someone else doing the information gathering for you.

***

# The Gangster Approach

Certain criminal contacts can provide contracted house locations.

Find the appropriate contact and obtain a job.

<Info>
  ### Gangster Approach

  **Police Required:** 1<br />**Scouting Required:** Yes<br />**Progress Time:** 8<br />**Possible Ped Locations:** 4
</Info>

Even after obtaining the location, you'll still need to **scout the property** before moving forward.

<Tip>
  Criminal contacts don't necessarily stay in one place.

  Part of finding work is figuring out where the right people spend their time.
</Tip>

***

# The Maid Approach

Sometimes the person with the best information is someone who's already been inside.

A maid can be bribed to perform requests or provide information about houses where she works.

<Info>
  ### Maid Approach

  **Police Required:** 1<br />**Scouting Required:** No<br />**Progress Time:** 10<br />**Possible Ped Locations:** 3
</Info>

## Maid Intel

| Information           |     Value     |
| --------------------- | :-----------: |
| **Information Price** |   $250–$750   |
| **Wait Duration**     | 30–60 Seconds |
| **Chance of Fleeing** |      15%      |

<Warning>
  The maid isn't guaranteed to cooperate.

  There is a **15% chance** she'll flee instead.
</Warning>

Because the maid is providing direct information about the property, you do **not** need to scout the house afterward.

***

# The Valet Approach

Valet attendants spend their time around people with money.

That can make them useful sources of information.

Bribe a valet attendant and you may be able to obtain information about **luxurious houses**.

<Info>
  ### Valet Approach

  **Police Required:** 2<br />**Scouting Required:** No<br />**Progress Time:** 15<br />**Possible Ped Locations:** 5
</Info>

This approach removes the scouting requirement by obtaining information through the valet instead.

***

# The Locksmith Approach

Locksmiths work on houses all across the city.

Some of them may be willing to sell information they probably shouldn't.

Bribe the right locksmith and you may be able to obtain access information for a property they've worked on before.

<Info>
  ### Locksmith Approach

  **Police Required:** 1<br />**Scouting Required:** No<br />**Progress Time:** 13<br />**Possible Ped Locations:** 4
</Info>

Since the locksmith is providing the relevant house information directly, additional scouting is not required.

***

# The Payphone Approach

Some jobs don't come from a person standing around waiting for criminals.

You'll first need to obtain the appropriate **phone number**.

Once you have it, locate a payphone and make the call.

<Info>
  ### Payphone Approach

  **Police Required:** 1<br />**Scouting Required:** Yes<br />**Possible Number Locations:** 3
</Info>

Getting the job doesn't remove the preparation.

After receiving a house location, you'll still need to scout it before attempting the robbery.

<Tip>
  If you haven't found the number yet, you're missing the first part of the puzzle.
</Tip>

***

# The Hacking Approach

Prefer something a little more technical?

The hacking method allows you to obtain information through the **real-estate system**.

You'll need the proper equipment before you can start.

<Info>
  ### Hacking Approach

  **Police Required:** 1<br />**Scouting Required:** No<br />**Required Item:** Advanced USB
</Info>

## Hacking Information

| Information              |        Value       |
| ------------------------ | :----------------: |
| **Information Price**    |      $100–$500     |
| **Initial Location** | Real Estate Office |
| **Interaction Duration** |     18 Seconds     |
| **Required Item**        |    Advanced USB    |

The process begins through the **Real Estate Office**, where information can be accessed before purchasing additional details through the criminal network.

Because the information has already been gathered through the system, you do **not** need to scout the property afterward.

***

# Scouting Houses

Some robbery approaches require you to **scout the target** before the house can be robbed.

Scouting represents your character gathering the information needed before committing to the job.

### Scouting Is Required For

* **Door**
* **Gangster**
* **Payphone**

### Scouting Is Not Required For

* **Maid**
* **Valet**
* **Locksmith**
* **Hacking**

<Info>
  ### Why Scout?

  When you're finding a target yourself or receiving only a basic location, your character still needs to gather information about the property.

  Other approaches provide that information for you.
</Info>

***

# Prepare for the House

Getting inside is only part of the robbery.

Depending on what you find, different loot may require different equipment.

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Doors" icon="lock-open">
    Bring a **Blue Lockpick** when forced entry is required.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Glass Displays" icon="gem">
    Bring a **Glass Cutter** if you want access to valuables protected by glass.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Paintings" icon="image">
    Bring a **Switchblade** if you plan to remove paintings.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Safes" icon="vault">
    Bring a **Stethoscope** if you want the opportunity to break into safes.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Tip>
  ### Preparation Matters

  You may successfully enter a valuable house and still have to leave loot behind because you didn't bring the correct equipment.

  Plan before you go.
</Tip>
