# Laundering

> Learn how money laundering works in Equinox, including contracts, negotiation, progression, taxes, and the Level 5 warehouse.

Got a pile of **Dirty Money** burning a hole in your pocket?

Laundering gives criminals a way to turn those dirty bills into usable cash while progressing toward a much larger operation.

You won't start with an industrial warehouse and unlimited capacity.

You'll begin with **basic laundering contracts**, build experience, improve your rates, and eventually unlock the ability to purchase your own **laundering warehouse**.

<Info>
  ### The Basic Progression

  **Find the Launderer → Complete Contracts → Earn XP → Reduce Taxes → Unlock the Warehouse**
</Info>

# Laundering Levels

Your laundering level affects several parts of each contract:

* The percentage taken as tax
* The amount of money available through contracts
* Progression toward the next level
* Negotiation success
* Negotiation reward
* The chance that a negotiation is rejected

<Note>
  In the **Negotiations** column below, the values represent:

  **Success Chance / Reward Increase**
</Note>

| **Level** | **Tax** | **Contract Min/Max** | **XP** | **Negotiation** | **Reject Chance** |
| :-------: | :-----: | :------------------: | :----: | :-------------: | :---------------: |
|   **1**   |   45%   |      $300 – $700     |  3,200 |    10% / 25%    |        20%        |
|   **2**   |   35%   |     $600 – $1,200    |  2,800 |    25% / 35%    |        15%        |
|   **3**   |   25%   |    $1,000 – $2,000   |  2,200 |    50% / 45%    |        10%        |
|   **4**   |   15%   |    $1,500 – $3,000   |  1,600 |    75% / 60%    |         5%        |
|   **5**   |   10%   |    $2,500 – $5,000   |  1,000 |    90% / 75%    |         2%        |
|   **6**   |    5%   |   $5,000 – $10,000   |   100  |    95% / 100%   |         1%        |

<Info>
  ### Higher Level = Better Business

  As your laundering level increases:

  * Taxes become significantly lower
  * Larger contracts become available
  * Negotiations become more reliable

# Getting Started

Your first goal is to locate the **Launderer**.

He's not standing in the same place every restart.

<Tip>
  ### Finding the Launderer

  The Launderer has **3 possible spawn locations**.

  His location is randomized whenever the server restarts.

  You'll need to find him.
</Tip>

Once you've located him, interact with him to begin a laundering contract.

# Choosing a Vehicle

When starting a contract, you'll have two options:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Rental Vehicle" icon="car">
    Rent an **Asterope** through the laundering job.

    The rental fee is **\$450**, and most of that fee is returned when the vehicle is properly brought back.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Personal Vehicle" icon="garage-car">
    Use your own vehicle instead and avoid taking the contract rental.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

<Note>
  The rental is optional.

  Use whichever option makes the most sense for your character and the job.
</Note>

# Completing a Contract

Once the contract begins, you'll receive a destination.

Travel to the provided location and locate the person waiting for you.

When you interact with them, they'll present you with an offer.

<Frame>
  <img alt="Money laundering contract offer" title="Laundering Offer" src="https://mintcdn.com/equinox-roleplay/CiIkUpF4PYUOFlPM/images/offer.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=CiIkUpF4PYUOFlPM&q=85&s=33352c640a0980081416728465165308" className="dark:hidden" width="380" height="232" data-path="images/offer.png" />

  <img alt="Money laundering contract offer" title="Laundering Offer" src="https://mintcdn.com/equinox-roleplay/CiIkUpF4PYUOFlPM/images/offer.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=CiIkUpF4PYUOFlPM&q=85&s=33352c640a0980081416728465165308" className="hidden dark:block" width="380" height="232" data-path="images/offer.png" />
</Frame>

At this point you have a decision to make.

## Take the Offer

Accept the amount being offered and complete the transaction.

## Negotiate

Try your luck and attempt to improve the deal.

But negotiating isn't guaranteed to work.

***

# Negotiations

Negotiation becomes increasingly powerful as you level up.

Your current level determines:

* Your chance of successfully negotiating
* The potential increase to the offer
* Your chance of being rejected

<Warning>
  ### Negotiation Is a Risk

  Trying to squeeze more money out of the buyer can backfire.

  Your negotiation can be **rejected**.
</Warning>

</Frame>

At lower levels, negotiation is considerably riskier.

As you continue progressing, you'll become much more effective at getting buyers to accept better offers.

<Tip>
  Sometimes taking the guaranteed deal is better than getting greedy.

  Sometimes it isn't.

  That's your call.
</Tip>

# Rejected Offers

Not every negotiation ends in your favor.

If the buyer rejects your attempt, the deal may fall apart.

</Frame>

<Info>
  ### Rejection Chance Improves With Level

  Your rejection chance drops from:

  **20% at Level 1**

  all the way down to:

  **1% at Level 6**
</Info>

Experience makes a difference.

***

# Taxes

Basic laundering contracts take a percentage of the transaction as a **laundering tax**.

At Level 1, that percentage is substantial.

At higher levels, it becomes dramatically smaller.

| Level | Tax |
| :---: | :-: |
| **1** | 45% |
| **2** | 35% |
| **3** | 25% |
| **4** | 15% |
| **5** | 10% |
| **6** |  5% |

<Info>
  The real value of leveling isn't just gaining access to larger contracts.

  Reducing your tax from **45% to 5%** makes a massive difference in how much money your operation actually keeps.
</Info>
