# San Andreas State Police

The **San Andreas State Police (SASP)** serves as a statewide law-enforcement organization within the Department of Public Safety.

SASP leadership is responsible for department oversight, supervision, training, statewide enforcement standards, and coordination across the broader Department of Public Safety.

# Chain of Command

The San Andreas State Police follows the chain of command below, from highest to lowest rank.

# Rank Responsibilities

    The **Commissioner** oversees Department of Public Safety operations and is appointed by the Mayor.

    Typical responsibilities include oversight of:

    * Standard Operating Procedures

    * Other major administrative matters

    Meetings with the Commissioner are generally handled by scheduled appointment.

    The **Deputy Commissioner** assists the Commissioner with oversight of Department of Public Safety operations.

    The Deputy Commissioner:

    * Is appointed by the Commissioner
    * May exercise authority comparable to the Commissioner when appropriate
    * Assists with department-wide oversight
    * Supports policy and operational decisions

      Substantial department changes should not be made without confirmation from the Commissioner and Mayor.

    The **Commander** serves as the primary leader of the San Andreas State Police and is comparable in responsibility to a Chief of Police.

    The Commander:

    * Oversees SASP operations
    * Conducts department checks and oversight
    * May propose amendments to SOPs
    * May develop or revise training material
    * Works with High Command to finalize department changes

    Proposed SOP or training changes are not considered official until approved through the appropriate High Command process.

    The **Major** serves as second-in-command behind the Commander.

    The Major assists with department oversight and may lead or oversee matters including:

    * Officer-Involved Shooting investigations
    * Major internal matters
    * Other significant department investigations or command concerns

    **Sergeants** serve as universal supervisors within the department.

    Sergeants commonly:

    * Train incoming Troopers
    * Maintain department documents
    * Conduct or assist with shift briefings
    * Provide general supervisory oversight
    * Support day-to-day department operations

    **Master Corporals** are trained across department operations and certifications to help maintain consistent DPS standards.

    Master Corporals may:

    * Respond to supervisor requests
    * Assist LSPD Corporals when additional supervisory support is requested
    * Train personnel across DPS departments
    * Serve as Field Training Officers
    * Help train and develop supervisors
    * Reinforce common DPS law-enforcement standards

    **Troopers** are the primary patrol personnel of the San Andreas State Police.

    Troopers are expected to:

    * Conduct regular patrol duties

    Troopers may take on limited supervisory responsibilities depending on the circumstances, although formal supervisor requests should still be handled through the appropriate supervisory chain.

As a Law Enforcement Officer, each member is entrusted with authority and responsibility by the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety and the public they serve.

That trust requires members to maintain a high standard of professional conduct.

4. **Act with honesty and integrity.**<br />Maintain a standard of honesty and personal integrity worthy of the trust placed in law enforcement.
5. **Remain accountable.**<br />Accept responsibility for people, property, equipment, and decisions entrusted to your care.
6. **Exercise discretion and sound judgment.**<br />Make reasonable decisions based on the circumstances, department policy, training, and the law.
