# Storage Units

> Learn how personal storage units work in Equinox, including private storage, organization, and shared key access.

Running out of room?

**Personal Storage Units** give your character additional space to store belongings outside of their home, vehicle, or everyday inventory.

Whether you're collecting valuables, running a business, storing equipment, or simply need somewhere to keep all the random things you've accumulated, a storage unit gives you a dedicated place to keep everything organized.

# Personal Storage

Once you purchase a storage unit, it becomes a dedicated space for your character's belongings.

Instead of carrying everything around with you, use your storage unit to separate items you don't need every day.

# Sharing Access

You don't necessarily have to keep the unit entirely to yourself.

Storage Unit owners can provide **keys** to trusted characters, allowing them to access the space as well.

This can be useful for:

* Friends
* Partners
* Family
* Business associates
* Crew members
* Other trusted characters

  ### Be Careful Who Gets a Key

  Giving somebody access means trusting them with whatever you're storing inside.

  If they don't need access anymore, make sure you handle the situation appropriately.

Trust can be useful.

It can also make for some very interesting roleplay when that trust turns out to be misplaced.

# What Should I Store?

That's entirely up to you.

A Storage Unit can make sense for all kinds of characters.

### Personal Storage

Keep things you want to hold onto without carrying them everywhere.

### Business Supplies

A business owner or employee might use storage for additional supplies or equipment.

### Collections

Collectables, sentimental items, old equipment, or other things your character doesn't want to throw away can finally have somewhere to go.

### Shared Equipment

Friends, organizations, or crews can use key access to maintain equipment that multiple characters need.

# Storage Unit Ideas

Storage can create more roleplay than you'd expect.

Maybe your character uses theirs as:

* Overflow storage from their apartment
* A business supply locker
* A place for old personal belongings
* Shared storage with a partner
* Equipment storage for a crew
* A collection room
* Somewhere to keep items they don't want sitting at home

  Organizing your belongings across different locations can make your character's possessions feel much more intentional than carrying everything they own everywhere they go.

# Keep Track of Your Keys

Once other characters begin receiving access, it's worth keeping track of who you've trusted.
