# Banking
> Learn how banking works in Equinox, including personal and shared accounts, savings, credit scores, loans, financing, and account management.
Welcome to the **Equinox Banking System**.
Banking goes far beyond simply depositing and withdrawing cash. Your financial history can now follow your character through loans, credit, financing, savings, shared accounts, and even legal action against your accounts.
### Your Finances Matter
How you manage your money can affect the opportunities available to your character.
Maintain your accounts, make your payments, and protect your credit if you plan on making larger purchases in the future.

# What Can You Do?
The banking system includes several features designed to make your character's financial life more meaningful.
View and manage your personal, savings, shared, and eligible job accounts.
Create accounts that can be shared with friends, businesses, crews, or other characters.
Your character has a credit score that can influence financial opportunities and major purchases.
Take out loans and keep track of repayment obligations through the banking system.
Keep money in savings and allow it to earn interest over time.
Accounts can be frozen when law enforcement or the legal system has appropriate grounds to do so.

# Banking Overview
When you first open the banking system, you'll be presented with your main financial dashboard.
This gives you a quick overview of your available accounts and financial information.

# Your Accounts
Your banking system may contain several different types of accounts.
### Personal Account
Your primary **Bank Account** is your character's everyday financial account.
This is where you'll handle much of your normal banking activity.
### Savings Account
Your **Savings Account** gives you a separate place to store money away from your everyday balance.
Money held in savings can also earn **interest over time**.
### Job Account
If your character has access to an eligible job or business account, it may also appear inside the banking system.
### Custom & Shared Accounts
You can also create additional accounts for specific purposes and share access with other characters.

Different accounts can help your character organize money for different purposes instead of keeping everything inside one balance.

# Shared Accounts
Need an account that more than one person can access?
The banking system allows you to create **shared accounts**.
These can be useful for things such as:
* Businesses
* Organizations
* Crews
* Families
* Partners
* Joint expenses
* Other shared financial arrangements
### Shared Means Shared
Be careful who you give access to.
If another character has legitimate access to an account, you're trusting them with the money held inside it.
That trust can become part of the roleplay.

# Savings
You don't need to keep every dollar inside your everyday account.
Savings accounts provide another place to store money and can generate **interest over time**.
If your character is saving toward a major purchase, keeping everything mixed into one everyday balance isn't your only option.

# Loans
Need access to money your character doesn't currently have?
The banking system includes **loan management**.
Eligible loans can be managed directly through your bank, including the repayment obligations associated with them.
### Borrowed Money Still Has to Be Repaid
A loan gives your character access to money now in exchange for financial obligations afterward.
How you handle those obligations can affect your financial standing.

Your character now has a **credit score**.
That score represents part of your character's financial history and can have real consequences when attempting to finance larger purchases.

It can affect whether your character qualifies for certain financial opportunities.

Thinking about financing a vehicle?
Your credit matters.
If your financial history becomes poor enough, you may find yourself unable to qualify for vehicle financing.

Poor credit can prevent your character from financing a vehicle.
If you're planning to rely on financing for major purchases, your financial decisions matter.

# Account Freezes
Your money isn't necessarily untouchable just because it's sitting in the bank.
Under appropriate legal circumstances, an account may be **frozen**.
### Legal Financial Action
Law enforcement or the legal system may be able to restrict access to financial accounts when proper legal grounds exist.
An account freeze can prevent your character from freely accessing affected funds.
This gives financial investigations and legal proceedings more weight than simply tracking physical cash.

The banking system gives characters more financial decisions to make.
Maybe you're:

* Financing a vehicle
* Building credit

* Sharing money with a partner
