Forgery gives criminals another way to build an identity, hide behind an alias, and create convincing counterfeit credentials. Using the Forgery OS, players can manufacture fake identification, driver’s licenses, weapon licenses, specialty licenses, and even establish entirely fabricated identities within certain city systems. The system rewards players who invest time into the craft. As your Forgery XP increases, better production methods become available and the process becomes more efficient.

Getting Started

Forgery requires more than simply finding the right computer. At minimum, you’ll want access to:

Finding the Operation

The forgery operation isn’t advertised. You’ll need to discover where the equipment is located through exploration, connections, or information gained through roleplay. Don’t expect every criminal location in Equinox to have a map marker. Finding these places is part of the criminal progression.

Getting Inside

Even after finding the location, you may not immediately be able to use it. Getting inside can also carry its own risks. Pay attention to your surroundings.

Forgery OS

Once you’ve reached a workstation, interact with the computer to open Forgery OS. Forgery OS allows you to browse the documents your character is currently capable of producing. Available options can include:

• Identity Cards
• Driver’s Licenses
• Motorcycle Licenses
• Commercial Licenses
• Hunting & Fishing Licenses
• Weapon Licenses
• Specialty Credentials
• Fake Identity Profiles

Not every option is equally easy to produce.

Choose Your Forgery Quality

As your character becomes more experienced, additional production methods become available. There are three major quality levels.

Street

Basic counterfeit production. It gets the job done, but it’s the least refined method available. Street forgery is generally:

• Cheaper to get started with
• Easier to access
• More prone to mistakes
• More likely to create unwanted attention

Professional

Experienced forgers can begin producing higher-quality documents. Professional production introduces better materials and a cleaner manufacturing process.

Ghost

The highest level of forgery available. Ghost production represents a character who has spent considerable time learning how to create convincing counterfeit documentation.

Materials Matter

Higher-quality documents require a more involved production process. You may encounter materials such as: The better the forgery method, the more involved the manufacturing process becomes.

Creating the Document

After choosing a document, you’ll be asked to provide the information that should appear on it. Depending on the credential, this may include information such as:

• First Name
• Last Name
• Date of Birth
• Sex
• Nationality
• Other document-specific information

Once submitted, Forgery OS begins the production process.

Forged Identification

Successfully forged credentials are designed to resemble the same identification issued through legitimate government systems. That means the finished card itself isn’t covered in obvious labels saying: FAKE or FORGED When presented through supported identification systems, the information stored on the forged item is used instead of automatically displaying the identity of the character carrying it. This allows forged credentials to actually function as an alias during roleplay.

Creating a Fake Identity

Some experienced criminals may go beyond simply printing a fake card. Forgery OS can also be used to create an entirely fabricated identity profile. This can place the alias into supported city databases, giving the identity more depth than a simple piece of plastic.

Forgery XP

Forgery has its own progression through the Equinox XP system. Completing forgery activities rewards Forgery XP. As your level increases, your character gains access to advantages such as:

• Faster production
• Reduced costs
• Better manufacturing methods
• Higher-quality forgery options
• Improved control over production risk

Heat

Running an illegal document operation repeatedly can attract attention. The forgery system tracks Heat, representing how aggressively your character has been using the operation. Higher heat can make continued production more dangerous. Heat will reduce over time. We’re going to let you figure out the rest.

Production Can Fail

Forgery isn’t guaranteed. Poor-quality production, excessive heat, and other circumstances can result in a failed attempt. If that happens, some of the materials involved in the production process may be lost. Your reusable equipment, however, may survive the attempt.

Evidence

A forgery operation isn’t necessarily a clean environment. Touching equipment, working around the facility, and making mistakes can potentially leave behind evidence. More experienced characters may become better at minimizing those risks, but criminals should never assume they’re completely invisible. Gloves, masks, planning, and common sense still matter.

Weapon Licenses

Forgery can produce counterfeit weapon-related credentials. However, forged documentation and firearm ownership records are not the same thing. Think carefully about how your alias is being used.

Build an Alias

The best use of forgery isn’t necessarily escaping one traffic stop. It can become an entire part of your character’s criminal story. Maybe your character:

• Develops a long-term alias
• Builds a reputation under another name
• Uses different identities for different operations
• Gives police conflicting information
• Gets recognized while using an alias
• Has one fake identity connected to several investigations
• Eventually makes one mistake that connects everything together

That’s where forgery becomes more than another way to obtain an item. It becomes part of the story.
