Equinox is not built around winning every situation. It’s built around creating stories worth remembering. Your character might become a respected business owner, career criminal, public servant, attorney, first responder, politician, mechanic, investigator, or something nobody has thought of yet. Some of your best stories may come from success. Great roleplay is not measured by whether your character won. It’s measured by whether the people involved walked away with a story worth remembering.Build the Story
Give situations room to develop. An arrest, failed plan, argument, betrayal, setback, unexpected consequence, or bad decision can create far better roleplay than everything going your character’s way. Your character can lose while the roleplay still wins.Give Others Something to Work With
Roleplay is collaborative. Your actions should give other players opportunities to respond, react, investigate, negotiate, escalate, de-escalate, or contribute to the story. Avoid treating scenes like something that needs to be completed as quickly as possible. Give people something to work with.Separate Character Knowledge From Player Knowledge
What you know and what your character knows are not always the same thing. Information learned through Discord, streams, conversations, another character, or other out-of-character sources should not automatically become information your character possesses. Keeping IC and OOC knowledge separate makes situations more believable and rewarding for everyone involved.Respect the People Behind the Characters
Characters can hate each other. Players shouldn’t. Conflict, arguments, rivalries, investigations, arrests, lawsuits, criminal activity, and betrayal are all part of roleplay. The people behind those characters are still members of the same community. Keep character conflict in character.Help Build the World
The strongest roleplay communities aren’t built entirely by scripts or staff. They’re built by players. Create businesses. Build friendships. Start rivalries. Organize events. Investigate crimes. Form organizations. Create careers. Become a regular somewhere. Hire people. Fire people. Make enemies. Become someone’s mentor. Give other characters reasons to exist in your story, and become part of theirs.Remember One Thing
Your character does not always have to succeed for the roleplay to be successful.
