Laptops

Laptops are your gateway into a huge number of systems throughout Equinox Roleplay. Whether you’re looking for civilian opportunities, work-related tools, entertainment, communication, or criminal progression, there’s a good chance you’ll eventually need access to a laptop. When you first open your laptop, however, you may notice something: Not every app is available. That’s normal.

Getting Connected

Some laptop applications require an active network connection before they become available. Depending on what you’re trying to access, you’ll need either:

• Public Wi-Fi
• A Private Network
• A VPN

Public Wi-Fi

Getting connected early on is easy. Many businesses and public locations throughout the city provide an open network connection. This gives new characters somewhere to access laptop services before obtaining more specialized network equipment.

Why Are Apps Missing?

Not every laptop application is visible or accessible under every connection. Some apps are intended for normal public use. Others require access to more specialized networks. As your character progresses, you’ll discover additional ways to connect and unlock more of what the laptop can do.

Laptop Applications

Once properly connected, the laptop gives you access to a wide range of applications.

CamPro

CamPro is the security camera application. It allows you to create and manage camera systems for locations you want to monitor. You can:

• Create security cameras
• Manage camera access
• Add other authorized viewers
• Monitor businesses
• Watch important locations
• Create surveillance around areas relevant to your character

CamPro can be useful for legitimate business security or as part of more questionable activities. How you use it is up to your character.

Marketplace

The Marketplace is where characters can advertise items and assets they want to sell. You may see listings for things such as:

• Vehicles
• Property
• Items
• Other legal goods

If you’ve got something legal to sell, list it and see who bites.

Cupcake

Don’t let the name fool you. Cupcake is your connection to the Cosmo network. Cosmo is associated with boosting and other illegal cryptocurrency-based criminal systems. Through this side of the laptop, you may be able to:

• Buy Cosmo
• Sell Cosmo
• Trade Cosmo
• Use Cosmo within related criminal progression
• Access systems connected to vehicle crime

Racing

The Racing application allows you to create and participate in races. You can use it for:

• Casual races with friends
• Crew competitions
• Cash races
• Organized events
• Private tracks

Racing doesn’t have to mean running from police. Sometimes you just want to find out whose car — or driving — is actually better.

Boosting

The Boosting app introduces you to vehicle-based criminal progression. Boosting can give you access to opportunities involving:

• Stolen vehicles
• Higher-end vehicle contracts
• Criminal progression
• VIN scratching
• Specialized rewards

Boosting can become a major part of a criminal character’s progression, but don’t treat every vehicle as guaranteed permanent property.

ChefWire

ChefWire is tied to the drug progression system. This is where characters involved in that side of the criminal world can begin accessing equipment and opportunities. Depending on your progression, you may be able to:

• Purchase tables
• Purchase supplies
• Access drug-related goods
• Expand production
• Monitor relevant zones
• Compete with other operations

If you’re serious about becoming a major supplier, expect competition.

Music

The Music app gives characters access to music created and shared within the Equinox ecosystem. Equinox also supports a record label system for characters interested in creating music. You may be able to:

• Create albums
• Release music
• Listen to available tracks
• Build a music career
• Play music through supported devices

If your character is interested in becoming an artist, producer, or label owner, this system gives you something to build around.

Mail

The Mail app gives your character access to email. You can create an address using:

• A public mail domain
• A private domain
• A custom organization or business setup

Sometimes an old-fashioned email is exactly what a situation needs.

VPN Access

Some of the laptop’s more specialized applications require access through a VPN. If you manage to obtain one, the VPN can be installed directly into the laptop. Once installed and properly connected, you’ll gain access to applications and networks that may not be available through a normal public connection.

Device Management

Your laptop can support additional devices through its Devices menu. The VPN is one example, but the system is designed around the laptop being more than a single static inventory item.

Your Laptop Is a Progression Tool

The laptop is intentionally connected to many different parts of Equinox. A brand-new character may only use it for basic services. Later, that same character might use it to:

• Sell property
• Run security cameras
• Organize races
• Trade Cosmo
• Run vehicle boosts
• Manage a drug operation
• Release music
• Operate a private email domain
• Access specialized networks
