Your story in Equinox Roleplay begins before you ever wake up in the city. The character system gives you control over:
  • Your available characters
  • Character appearance
  • Selection-screen presentation
  • Spawn location
  • The identity and direction of each character’s story

New to Equinox?

The first time you connect, you’ll be guided through creating your first character.Returning players will instead begin at the Character Selection screen.

Character Selection

Returning players will see their available characters when they first connect. Choose the character whose story you want to continue.

Character Slots

Every player begins with:

3 Character Slots

Each character is a completely separate story. One may become a business owner. Another may join a department. Another may make considerably worse life choices. That’s entirely up to you.

Additional Character Slots

Additional character slots are available through the Equinox Tebex Store for players who want room for more stories.
Additional character slots are completely optional. The standard 3 character slots are available to everyone.

Customize Your Selection Screen

Your character menu does not have to look exactly like everyone else’s. The selection screen includes customization options that let you personalize how your characters are presented before entering the city.

Character Screen Customization

Make it your own. Your selection screen is the first thing you’ll see before stepping back into your character’s story.

Choose Where You Wake Up

After selecting a character, you’ll normally be able to choose where that character wakes up. Available locations are shown before entering the city.

Spawn Selection

Spawn Selection Restrictions

If your character is:
  • Dead or downed
  • Currently incarcerated
you will automatically return to the appropriate location instead of selecting a new spawn. This prevents the character system from being used to avoid active roleplay, medical consequences, or incarceration.

Creating a New Character

When creating a new character, you’ll first enter the basic information that defines them.

Character Information

Don’t Rush Through It

Your character’s name, appearance, personality, and background are the foundation of everything that comes afterward. You can change clothes later.Building a believable character is a little harder to replace.

Character Appearance

After entering your basic information, you’ll move into the full character customization system. Equinox includes a wide variety of appearance options, including:
  • Custom faces
  • Hairstyles
  • Facial features
  • High-detail clothing
  • Accessories
  • Character-specific styling options
  • Additional appearance customization

Character Customization

Build Their Look

Choose clothing and styling that fit the type of character you’re creating.

Choose Their Features

Use face, hair, and appearance options to make your character visually distinct.

Develop Their Identity

Think beyond appearance. Consider who this person is and what brought them to San Andreas.

Let Them Evolve

Your character does not need to look or dress the same forever. Let their style change with their story.

Custom Faces & Clothing

Equinox includes custom appearance options beyond the standard GTA character creator. We’re always looking for additional clothing, hairstyles, and customization options that improve the variety available to players.
Hair fades are available at tattoo parlors throughout the city.
If you feel an important style, hairstyle, or clothing option is missing, let us know through a support ticket.

Building a Character

Character creation does not end when you finish adjusting their appearance. Before entering the city, think about a few basics.

Where Did They Come From?

Give them enough background to explain who they are and why they’re in San Andreas.

What Do They Want?

Goals give your character something to work toward and something to lose.

What Are They Good At?

Strengths help define the kinds of opportunities they may pursue.

What Are They Bad At?

Flaws create mistakes, conflict, growth, and better stories.
You do not need to write a twenty-page biography. A few useful questions are enough:
  • Where did they come from?
  • Why are they in San Andreas?
  • What do they want?
  • What are they good at?
  • What are they terrible at?
  • What kind of work interests them?
  • What do they value?
  • What do they fear?
  • What lines won’t they cross?

Give Them Flaws

Perfect characters get boring quickly. Your character does not need to:
  • Know everything
  • Be good at everything
  • Win every argument
  • Have every connection
  • Immediately understand the city
  • Start with an impressive reputation

Start With Room to Grow

A new character should have somewhere to go.Jobs, friendships, rivalries, mistakes, arrests, businesses, relationships, and failures can all shape who they eventually become.

Keep Your Characters Separate

If you play multiple characters, remember that each one has their own knowledge, relationships, experiences, and story. Information learned by one character does not automatically become known by another.

Separate Character Knowledge

Do not use alternate characters to transfer:
  • Information
  • Relationships
  • Advantages
  • Knowledge
  • Other benefits
between otherwise separate stories. Each character should stand on their own.
That separation is what makes multiple characters feel like different people instead of different skins on the same player.

Your First Character

If this is your first time in Equinox, do not worry about creating the most complicated character imaginable. Start with something you can comfortably roleplay.

Keep It Believable

Create someone who reasonably fits into the world and gives you room to develop.

Don't Know Everything

Being new to the city can be part of your character. Ask questions and learn naturally.

Meet People

Relationships will shape your character far more than anything you write before entering the city.

Let the Story Change You

Don’t lock yourself into one outcome. Let what happens in the city influence who your character becomes.

Your Story Starts Here

A character does not become memorable because of the options you select in the creator. They become memorable because of what happens after you press Play.
