Having trouble with Equinox or FiveM? This page covers the most common issues players encounter and the steps that usually resolve them.
If an error continues after following the applicable steps below, take a screenshot of the full error message and open a support ticket in the Equinox Discord.

Start Here

Before digging into a specific error, try these basic steps:
1

Restart FiveM

Completely close FiveM, including any remaining FiveM processes, and launch it again.
2

Make Sure Steam Is Running

Start Steam and allow it to fully load before opening FiveM.
3

Check for Modified Files

If you use graphics mods, custom sirens, weapon modifications, or other client-side files, temporarily remove them if the error mentions modified files or Pure Mode.
4

Verify GTA V

If files appear missing or corrupted, verify your GTA V installation through the launcher you use.

Equinox & In-Game Issues

Discord image links may expire and FiveM no longer supports Imgur in the same way it previously did.For longer-term image hosting, use an in-character phone upload or a supported image hosting service such as FiveManage.Members of the Department of Public Safety may also have access to the Equinox ShareX token. If you need assistance configuring ShareX with the Equinox uploader, open a support ticket.
Equinox operates using Pure Mode Level 1.This prevents many client-side modifications from loading while connected. If FiveM reports an invalid or modified game file:
  • Remove the client modification mentioned in the error.
  • Remove or update modified siren, weapon, graphics, or game files.
  • Verify your GTA V files.
  • Restart FiveM and reconnect.
Errors referencing an .rpf file may indicate that a GTA V archive has been modified or is outdated.
This is usually related to your GTA V display safezone.Try the following:
  1. Open GTA V Display Settings.
  2. Reset your display settings.
  3. If the issue remains, adjust the Safezone slider until the minimap fits correctly.
Use the in-game crosshair settings.Enter:
Enable the default GTA crosshair and test the weapon again.

Connection Issues

CURL errors are generally caused by a networking or connection issue rather than FiveM itself.Possible causes:
  • The server is temporarily unavailable.
  • The server address has changed.
  • You are using an outdated Cfx.re connection link.
  • The server address being used is incorrect.
Try flushing your Windows DNS:
  1. Press Windows Key + X.
  2. Open Terminal or Command Prompt.
  3. Enter:
  1. Restart FiveM.
  2. Attempt to connect again.
If the problem continues, open a support ticket.
CURL 56 errors are commonly associated with a connection being interrupted.Possible causes:
  • Poor or unstable internet connection
  • Network filtering
  • DDoS protection or routing issues
Try the following:
  1. Restart your router if appropriate.
  2. Restart FiveM.
  3. Flush your Windows DNS:
  1. Attempt to connect again.
If the issue continues, open a support ticket.
Errors such as:
indicate a problem communicating with Rockstar services.Try the following:
  • Restart your computer.
  • Make sure your antivirus or firewall is not blocking Rockstar services.
  • Restart the Rockstar Games Launcher.
  • Reinstall the Rockstar Games Launcher if necessary.
  • Check whether Rockstar Online Services are currently available.
In regions where Rockstar services are unavailable or restricted, additional networking configuration may be required.
Equinox requires Steam to be running, even if your copy of GTA V was purchased through another launcher.Errors may include:
or a message asking you to relaunch FiveM with Steam open.Fix:
  1. Completely close FiveM.
  2. Open Steam.
  3. Wait for Steam to fully connect.
  4. Launch FiveM.
  5. Reconnect to Equinox.
If Steam is already open, restart both Steam and FiveM before trying again.

FiveM Installation & File Errors

Clearing your FiveM cache can resolve certain loading, connection, and corrupted cache issues.Default FiveM installation:
  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Enter:
  1. Open the FiveM folder.
  2. Open FiveM Application Data.
  3. Open the data folder.
  4. Delete the following folders if present:
Custom FiveM installation:Navigate to your FiveM installation and open:
Then delete the same cache folders.
If you are troubleshooting graphics modifications, remove or update those modifications separately. Clearing cache does not remove files installed directly into GTA V or FiveM.
This usually means a required FiveM file has been removed, blocked, or corrupted.Errors may include:
Try the following:
  1. Close all FiveM processes.
  2. Check whether your antivirus quarantined any FiveM files.
  3. Repair or reinstall FiveM if necessary.
  4. Locate your FiveM Application Data directory.
  5. Delete caches.xml if present.
  6. Launch FiveM again.
If an antivirus removed the file, make sure the underlying antivirus issue is resolved before reinstalling FiveM.
This may appear as:
Try the following:
  • If FiveM asks whether you want to update game storage, select Yes.
  • Verify your GTA V installation.
  • Make sure GTA V is fully updated.
  • Check that FiveM is pointing to the correct GTA V installation.
This usually means FiveM cannot locate your GTA V installation.Locate your FiveM directory:Press Windows Key + R and enter:
If you installed FiveM somewhere manually, use that installation folder instead.Locate:
Open it with a text editor and check the IVPATH= entry. It should point to your actual GTA V installation directory.
This error means another process may be preventing FiveM from accessing its cache files.Start with:
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Close unnecessary background programs.
  3. Temporarily check whether antivirus or security software is locking the file.
  4. Launch FiveM again.
If the issue continues, Windows Resource Monitor can help identify which process has the file open.Using Resource Monitor:
  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Enter:
  1. Open the CPU tab.
  2. Under Associated Handles, search for:
Look for a process other than FiveM that may be holding the file open.
Do not disable random Windows services, startup applications, or registry entries unless you understand what they do. If you’re unsure, open a support ticket instead.

FiveM Client Issues

FiveM’s Canary channel is intended for testing and may cause unexpected behavior or crashes during normal play.If FiveM opens:
  1. Open FiveM.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Find the update or release channel setting.
  4. Make sure you are using the normal Release channel.
If FiveM will not open:Navigate to:
Open:
If you see:
remove that line, save the file, and restart FiveM.
This may be related to conflicting server maps or clothing assets.Because this may be a server-side resource problem, players generally cannot fix it themselves. What to do:
  1. Take a screenshot of the full crash message.
  2. Note what you were doing immediately before the crash.
  3. Open an Equinox support ticket.
Staff can forward the information to the development team.
Errors similar to:
may indicate a corrupted or invalid streamed server resource. This is generally something the development team needs to investigate. What to do:
  • Take a screenshot of the crash.
  • Make sure the resource or file name is visible.
  • Open an Equinox support ticket.
Including the exact file name makes the issue much easier to locate.

Antivirus & Security Software

Antivirus interference can cause symptoms such as:
  • FiveM closing during installation
  • FiveM downloads being blocked
  • FiveM files being quarantined
  • FiveM disappearing after installation
  • Installations becoming stuck
  • File movement errors
Try the following:
  1. Close all FiveM processes.
  2. Check your antivirus quarantine or protection history.
  3. Determine whether a FiveM file has been blocked or removed.
  4. Temporarily disable the applicable third-party protection only if necessary.
  5. Reinstall or launch FiveM.
  6. Re-enable your antivirus protection afterward.
Do not leave your antivirus disabled. If you are uncomfortable changing security settings, open a support ticket before continuing.

Graphics & Client Modifications

A crash referencing d3d11.dll is commonly associated with a graphics modification.Examples may include:
The d3d11.dll file is not part of a standard GTA V or FiveM installation.Try the following:
  1. Close FiveM.
  2. Locate your GTA V installation.
  3. Remove graphics-mod files such as:
  1. Verify your GTA V files.
  2. Relaunch FiveM.
If you intentionally use a graphics modification, review that modification’s installation instructions before reinstalling it.
FiveM changes may occasionally affect the way graphics modifications are loaded. If a graphics modification stops working:
  1. Locate your FiveM installation.
  2. Confirm the modification is installed using the method currently required by FiveM.
  3. Check your FiveM graphics-related settings.
  4. Make sure the modification is compatible with Pure Mode.
  5. Remove the modification and test FiveM without it.
Equinox uses Pure Mode Level 1, so some client modifications may intentionally be blocked while connected.
If the problem is specific to FiveM rather than Equinox, you may also use the official Cfx.re Technical Support forum.
